At SoBrook Occupational Therapy

We Are Dedicated to Your Wellbeing

When you choose SoBrook Occupational Therapy, you’re selecting a highly qualified and dedicated occupational therapist with a wealth of expertise in the field. Here’s why SoBrook stands out:

  • Extensive Education: Tatyana Khazanova earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Mercy College in 2006, followed by her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, also from Mercy College, in 2008. Physical disabilities and pediatrics were her areas of interest, so she chose to work in a hospital setting after college. While there, she treated children and adults in inpatient, acute, and outpatient settings.  She went on to hold several more positions in outpatient rehabilitation facilities, where she focused on  pediatric rehabilitation, adult sports injuries, with a primary focus on sensory integration, upper extremity trauma & post-operative therapy. This strong educational background equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the highest quality of care to her patients.

  • Certified Hand Therapist: In 2018 she earned Hand Therapy Certification and went on to join the expert team at the Hand Center at NYU Langone’s Orthopedic Hospital, where she spent the next 4 years. As a certified hand therapist (CHT), she has undergone rigorous training and met strict requirements to earn this esteemed credential. Her specialization in hand therapy enables her to provide complete care for conditions and injuries of the upper extremities, such as your shoulder, thumb and fingers, wrist, elbow, and hand, ensuring optimal recovery and function for her patients.

  • Specialized Training: She is committed to staying at the forefront of occupational therapy practice through continuous learning and professional development. She has pursued additional postgraduate training in upper extremity  therapy and sports rehabilitation, allowing her to offer advanced treatment options tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

  • Clinical Interests: Her passion for occupational therapy extends beyond the clinic walls. She has a keen interest in yoga and its therapeutic benefits, which she incorporates into her practice to promote holistic healing and well-being. Additionally, her clinical interests include chronic pain management, manual therapy techniques, and the treatment of conditions affecting the elbow, hand, wrist, thumb and fingers, and shoulder.

SoBrook Occupational Therapy understands the unique challenges faced by individuals recovering from trauma, surgery, or managing chronic conditions. The holistic approach to occupational therapy extends beyond the injury site to consider proximal events, and innovative solutions, focusing on addressing physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental factors to create personalized treatment plans that meet your specific needs and goals.
